Bomb squad called to dispose of two WW2 bombs in Exeter

The bomb squad has been called to dispose of two Second World War bombs which have been found in Exeter.

The discovery was made today in an orchard in Shillingford Road.

Local residents have reported everyone was evacuated out of the road as a precaution, and that they were led up to the motorway bridge for their safety.

A police spokesman said: “The Ministry of Defence went to the address to have a look at it and and are dealing with it.

“Two bombs were found in an orchard of someone’s property in Shillingford Road.

“They are believed to be Second World War bombs.

“The MoD explosives team are at the scene. A 100 metre cordon is in place in the area to keep everyone safe.”
