Boy, aged nine, struck and seriously injured by van in Devon village

A nine-year-old boy has been seriously injured after he was hit by a van in a Devon village this afternoon (Friday).

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the accident in Loddiswell in the South Hams.

Kingsbridge Police posted on Facebook that the child was struck by the vehicle in South Brent Road just after 4pm on November 4.

Officers said that the air ambulance was called but was already responding to another incident.

Paramedics attended by road and treated the boy with the help of a doctor as part of the Basics scheme which provides medical assistance to ambulance crews and covers events.

Kingsbridge Police posted: “The nine-year-old boy has been taken to Derriford Hospital (in Plymouth) with serious, but not life threatening injuries.”
