Driver fined after using friend’s car for McDonald’s deliveries

A man who delivers McDonald’s orders in Devon has been caught by police using his friend’s car for work.

He was stopped in Newton Abbot earlier today.

Officers checked if his vehicle was insured and realised the man was using his friend’s car for the deliveries, thinking his vehicle’s insurance policy covered him for business use on others.

It turned out that it did not and the man received a £300 fine and six points.

Devon and Cornwall Police Roads Policing Team tweeted about the incident this morning.

A spokesperson for the team wrote: “Apologies for the delayed McDonalds delivery in Newton Abbot, but the order was delayed by the gentleman who thought his other vehicle’s insurance policy covered him to use his friend’s car for business use. It didn’t.

“Six points and £300 fine awaits him.”
