Film crew on Devon beach sparks Netflix rumours

A double take had to be given by visitors to a Devon beach after a group of fierce looking knights on horseback were seen striding along the sand.

Locals have reported being told not to take any photographs, and being asked to move on from the secret film location at Saunton Sands yesterday afternoon.

Speculation has been mounting on social media what the film or show the crews were recording for.

The most popular opinion is that it is for Netflix series The Witcher.

The first season consisted of eight episodes and was released on Netflix in its entirety on December 20, 2019. It is based on The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny, which are collections of short stories that precede the main Witcher saga.

Before the first season had been released, Netflix announced a second eight-episode season to be released in 2021.

A local resident, who couldn’t resist the temptation to take a photograph and share the unusual sight on social media, said: “I met up with a friend I’d not seen for three months for a dog walk and we were quite surprised to see it.

“We asked what they were filming but they were all very secretive.

“It seems it’s for a series called The Witcher on Netflix. We were told we couldn’t take photos, but how could I not?.”

Streaming giant Netflix has been approached for a comment.
