Latest Covid map of Devon shows level of virus across communities

The latest cluster map shows the areas of Devon with the highest number of Covid infections.

In Exeter, a daily total of 21 people have tested positive, according to the latest data from Public Health England released on Thursday (December 10).

It now means there have been 2,817 Covid-19 cases in Exeter since the pandemic started.

The number in the city over the seven-day period up to December 5 was 126.

Exeter’s coronavirus case rate per 100,000 is currently 95.19 That is down 5.5 per cent on the previous week.

The ward with the highest infection rate in the city is Wonford and St Loyes, which stands at 253 per 100,000 people. It has 21 cases.

Areas seeing an increase include Central Exeter which has a rate of 157 (19 cases) and St Leonard’s, 163, (11 cases).

Heavitree East and Polsloe has a steady eight cases and Exwick and Foxhayes seven.

Cases are down in Alphington & Marsh Barton and most areas surrounding the city.

In East Devon, Honiton North and East has 15 cases and a rolling rate of 248, which is a slight increase.

There have also been increases in Feniton & Whimple; Sidbury, Offwell & Beer; and Dunkeswell, Upottery & Stockland.

In North Devon the overall picture is steady. Bideford South & East has 13 cases, Braunton 12.

Figures in Torbay remain far below the national and county average.

In Torridge, Holsworthy, Bradworthy and Welcome has 16 cases and a rolling rate of 158.

The latest Covid figures for Devon show little overall change in the spread of the virus.

The county’s coronavirus case rate per 100,000 is currently 75.7.

The total number of positive cases in the local authority area over the most recent seven-day period stands at 607.
