Detectives are keen to hear from witnesses following an alleged serious assault in a Horrabridge street in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Officers were called to an incident in New Park early on July 5 which they have said was not believed to be a random attack.
Residents in the area were alerted to a noise and found a male in his 40s who had sustained serious facial injuries.
He was later taken to Derriford Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Fortunately, his injuries were not considered life threatening or life changing.
Two men were later arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
Both men were taken to a police station for questioning before being released on bail until a date in August.
Investigators say they are very keen to hear from anyone who may have information about the matter.
