Premier Inn will be creating an 83-bedroom hotel in the town centre of Tiverton, Devon. Premier Inn confirms it will open new Devon hotel in 2019
Tiverton’s Premier Inn will be open in Autumn 2019 with work beginning next month in the town centre.
Planning permission was granted to develop the town’s multi-storey car park into an 83-bedroom hotel in May 2016.
Part of the multi-storey car park closest to the current entrance will be demolished to make way for the hotel which will feature a restaurant.
The proposed site will reduce the parking by 75 and also will occupy up to 66 spaces, so there will be a loss to the car park of 141 spaces.
New temporary access to M&S Food, drainage diversion works to the south side of Phoenix Lane. Alteration works to form new car park entrance. The works will take place between May and June 2018. The existing 640 spaces will be slightly reduced to 614 car park spaces which will be available in this phase.
Maintain temporary access to M&S Food, drainage diversion works to the North Side of Phoenix Lane. The works will take place between June and September 2018. On completion of Phase two, the permanent entrance to M&S Food will be re-instated. 108 car parking spaces will be lost, but 532 spaces will be available in this phase.
Demolition of part of the existing car park along with associated drainage works. The works will take place between September and November 2018. 532 car park spaces will be available, and ingress into the remaining car park will be through the new entrance.
Geoff Cook, senior project and programme manager for Whitbread Property, said: “Premier Inn is intending to carry out highway and drainage works in Phoenix Lane in the spring of 2018 as part of the enabling works for the proposed new Premier Inn Hotel being constructed.
“Out of respect for environmental constraints, we had undertaken a tree investigation clearance before trees were habituated by nesting birds. The Millennial tree will either be relocated or replaced into one of MDDC parks.
